Surgical Services:
Surgery Scheduling
All surgical times are considered tentative, due to the need to respond to emergency patient needs.
Therefore, if you have any questions regarding your surgical stay, please call your surgical center. If you are having surgery Tuesday through Friday, please call the evening before, between 4 and 7 PM, to verify your surgery time. If you have a Monday surgery scheduled, please call the Friday before to verify. If there are schedule changes at the surgical center that you are not aware of, the center will contact you.

Pre- and Post-Surgery Instructions
Please follow the procedures below before, during, and after your surgical procedure.
-
Before your surgery or procedure, please follow the specific preparatory instructions provided by your physician and the surgical center, such as dietary restrictions. This is necessary for your own safety and a successful surgical outcome.
-
The evening before your surgery or procedure, do not eat or drink after midnight. This includes water, coffee, juice, alcohol, chewing gum and mints. This is very important for your safety. Your surgery or procedure may have to be cancelled if you have anything to eat or drink. Brush your teeth, but do not swallow any water. The morning of the surgery or procedure, take the medications that you have been instructed to take with just a sip of water.
-
Do not smoke or drink alcohol for 24 hours before your surgery or procedure.
-
Please shower or bathe the evening before or the morning of your surgery.
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothes.
-
Leave all valuables including jewelry, watches, money and credit cards, at home. If you wear glasses, contact lenses or a hearing aid, bring a case in which to store them.
-
Please limit yourself to one family member or friend in the treatment area. Other guests may wait in the surgical waiting room. Please do not bring along any children younger than 14 years.
-
Cell phones may not be used in the hospital, because they may disrupt the monitoring equipment.
-
If you anticipate an overnight stay, please leave your luggage in your car. A room will be assigned and after your surgery or procedure a family member can bring your overnight bag it to your room.
-
The hospital or surgical center will inform you about when you need to arrive and where you should park.
-
Your physician or the surgical center staff will give you written instructions for your post-operative care. Please follow all instructions carefully.
-
You may feel sleepy or dizzy after your surgery or procedure. Therefore, you must NOT drive yourself home. You must have a responsible adult with you to drive you home and stay with you through the night.
-
Once you are home, finish your recovery there. Plan to take it easy and follow your discharge instructions carefully to promote a quick recovery.
Pre-Surgical or Pre-Procedural Medication Instructions
Please Note:
For your own safety, failure to follow the instructions below may necessitate cancellation of your surgery. Surgery may also need to be cancelled if your pre-surgical test results reveal certain medical conditions that would make surgery particularly unsafe.
-
You may be instructed to avoid taking certain medications or dietary supplement for a specific length of time before your surgery. Follow these instructions carefully. If you have questions or concerns about stopping any medications or supplements, please discuss them with your physician(s).
-

If you have asthma please bring your inhaler with you.
-
If you have diabetes, DO NOT take your insulin or diabetes medication the morning of your surgery or procedure.
